Notes

Both the Bleeding Heart and the Golden Wattle are among the first native species to recolonize areas of bushland which have been disturbed. The Bleeding heart prefers sheltered areas. The Koel is a cuckoo which arrives in spring. It will lay its eggs in the nest of other birds. It returns north in late summer. The male Koel, which is black, can be heard calling loudly on hot and humid or rainy nights. It is sometimes called the Rainbird.
